Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, except for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from the previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and Item Upgrading items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

Once an item has been leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it is able to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available is contingent on the item's base type. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will have lower chances of success.

To measure the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game and can boost the damage, strength or other attributes. You can do this through the item upgrades menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be done sparingly.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item upgrader mod.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or a negative thing depending on your requirements and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added over the usual affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

Sets

Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs.
